Description:

This painting depicts the romantic ideal of the Far East, typical of

Renaissance subject matter.  The reclining nude is reminiscent of

Giorgione’s Sleeping Venus, a popular pose of the time.

The pavilion is based on Tielpolos’s Sacrifice of Iphigenia.
