Description:
This painting depicts the romantic ideal of the Far East, typical of
Renaissance subject matter. The reclining nude is reminiscent of
Giorgione’s Sleeping Venus, a popular pose of the time.
The pavilion is based on Tielpolos’s Sacrifice of Iphigenia.
