Description:
The main office at Englishtown Auction, New Jersey’s oldest open air market, resembles a 1950’s post office, complete with old fashioned letter boxes. The main mural is a large trompe l’oeil (“fool the eye”) Norman Rockwell-inspired scene of post office patrons waiting in line to deposit their letters. The faux marble floors and painted woodwork seamlessly blend into the real marble floor and wood trim.
In addition, there are four removable, life-size cashier panels which are put in place when the “real” cashiers are not available. Each panel depicts a post office worker on a break.
