Teen Check
List (Ages 13+)
- Redesign room with teens input - EVEN if they want black walls! At this
point they are young adults, so look at magazines books and try and help
them identify a style that they feel is unique to them
- Some more "adult" styles include: Victorian or romantic themes,
modern or minimal rooms (good luck with this one!) , Country, Asian or
Japanese inspired rooms, period design like 50's Art Deco, the flower
power of the 60's, or the psychedelic 70's.
- Color can also be used to create a mood and a style - all reds, black
and white, all blues, etc.
- You can shop with your child to find a retro sign or piece of furniture
and build the room around that piece.
- When in doubt let fashion be your guide - look at what your kids are
wearing - bright colors and geometric designs are easy to apply to room
design.
- Larger bookcase and study area
- Couch or seating to entertain friends
