Project Estimate

The first step to commissioning a mural is getting an estimate. If you are not familiar with the process of commissioning custom art work I have outline it here: Mural Design Process

The best way to determine how much your mural will cost is to give me as much information as possible. It's not an exact science and I will try to work within your budget. Costs of mural projects vary based on subject matter, style, location and size. I use a square footage method to determine how many hours will be needed to complete the job. This method roughly translates into $150 per hour. Mural Prices (per square foot) $100-150+ classic mural design (more traditional painting techniques, figures, landscapes, architecture, etc. The square footage quote includes canvas (when applicable) and paints. The minimum for any job is $5,000.

For free estimates call 917-572-3254 or email me with project details.
I need to know the following:

1. Commercial or residential?

2. What kind of painting / subject matter? e.g. figures, landscapes, architecture, etc.,  If you have a famous painting or artists style that you would like me to replicate kindly provide those details.

3. Where are you located? I can give free on-site consultations in New York, Los Angeles and Palm Beach.

4. What is your time frame?

5. What is the wall size?  Include height & width

6. What is the wall surface shape? e.g. flat, concave, convex, etc.

7. What is the condition of the wall?  e.g. Wallpaper, paint, raw sheetrock, etc.

Please add anything else you think is relevant - the more details you can give me; the more accurate the quote.

In addition to the square footage fee, any or all of the following items could increase the cost of the mural. These are things that I may add to your quote if I feel they are applicable - nobody likes surprises!

  • Location / distance from studio (travel fees, etc.)
  • Availability of space (e.g. only available at night, etc.)
  • Design revision fees (Changes to the mural during execution that were not part of the approved comp will be billed at $150 per hour)
  • Special rental equipment (scaffold, etc.)
  • Wall surface preparation (necessary only on older walls)
  • Architect or interior design commissions/ markups
  • Taxes
  • Special materials (not including paint or canvas, that is part of the square footage quote)
  • Canvas installation*
  • Shipping Costs

*I do not typically install the canvas murals - a professional wallpaper hanger must be contracted. I will touch up and seal mural after installation at no additional costs excluding airfare and lodging (if applicable)
